The Supplied Air Fan and Electronics Unit (FEU)mounts under the user’s desk in a Personal Environments system. The Supplied Air FEU draws conditioned air supplied by the HVAC system from a wall panel, column, or raised floor plenum. Desktop diffusers provide the user's breathing zone with a filtered mixture of supplied and ambient air. The Supplied Air FEU can operate independently, or can connect to a Johnson Controls Metasys Operator Workstation or Companion system to add monitoring, override, and precondition capabilities to the Personal Environments units.
Product Overview:
A basic installation of a Personal Environments
Supplied Air system consists of the following:
· Supplied Air Fan and Electronics
· Supplied Air User Control Unit
· Diffusers (2)
· Diffuser Duct Kit
· Under desk Radiant Heat Panel (optional)
(All components are ordered separately.)
Product Options:
There are two options for the Supplied Air FEU.
These are:
1. The Radiant Heat Panel is ordered separately when required. All FEUs have a power connection and controls for the Radiant Heat Panel.
Theory of Operation
The Supplied Air Fan and Electronics Unit implements and integrates the functions of the
Personal Environments system. The user has
fingertip-control of five of these functions through
the Supplied Air User Control Unit. These functions are:
1. Air temperature selection (mixing supplied and ambient air)
2. Air supply to the desktop (fan speed)
2. A network controller for connection to a Metasys Operator Workstation or Companion facilities management system may be included. This factory installation must be specified in the order. Network data base generation is not included.
3. Radiant Heat Panel output
4. Background noise masking
5. Task lighting level adjustment or On/Off control
When a work station or office is occupied, power is provided to all functions. When the area is unoccupied for approximately 15 minutes, as determined by a sensor located in the User Control Unit, the power to these FEU functions is shut off. The FEU enters Standby mode until the User Control Unit sensor again detects an occupant.
