Erase LTO1, LTO2, LTO3, and LTO4 cartridges The eraser works with all generation of LTO cartridges, including LTO4 cartridges. Hardware encryption is available in all LTO4 tape drives and any LTO4 cartridge may be encrypted. Since it is not necessary to erase encrypted data the eraser can be configured to automatically skip the erase cycle of a LTO 4 cartridge if the cartridge is encrypted. High speed LTO1, 2, and 3 cartridges: less than 3 minutes LTO4: less than 3.5 minutes Reliable and consistent operation The eraser has complete control of the tape movement. All erase operations take the same time, each time, and with all tapes. Certification Each unit is tested thoroughly before shipping. This includes scanning all four data bands to ensure that the data have been erased and scanning all five servo bands to ensure their integrity. The scan is performed through the entire length of tape. Annual recertification To ensure continued flawless operation in the field we recommend that the eraser is certified annually. We will send you a cartridge containing test data. You erase the cartridge in the eraser and send it back. We will perform a complete certification of the erased tape (see above) and send you a certificate. This recertification process is free as long as your eraser is under warranty.
